Hi! My name is Nick Milczarczyk.
I'm a nineteen-year-old Canadian filmmaker based in Toronto, I have written, directed, and produced a number of award-winning short films, including “In The Weeds,” “Those Who Run,” "The Mechanic," and “A Bootless Grief." I'm fortunate enough to say that I've won some notable awards over the years, including winning Best Director and Audience Choice at the All American High School Film Festival, Best Youth by Youth short at the Calgary International Film Festival, as well as many others you can find below. In total, I've won over $100,000 dollars in scholarships, cash prizes, and equipment.
BEHIND "THE PROJECTER"
As a kid, I started The Projecter12 as a small YouTube channel where I would upload all of my school projects to share with my friends and family. Back then, I always found myself creating the most elaborate skits, animations, and videos for presentations, even when I didn’t have to. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I found so much joy in the process of creating something new and watching an audience's reaction to my work. I decided to keep the pseudonym out of love for my original dedication to every project I worked on, big or small. I had no idea where The Projecter12 would take me.
I have been fortunate enough to win several prestigious awards on an international scale, learn advanced techniques in both practical and theoretical aspects of filmmaking under many talented professors and industry professionals, and build a network of like-minded filmmakers. A lot has changed over the years, but I like to think that the heart at the core of The Projecter12 has remained the same. I'm still that same kid passionate about creativity, exploring the unknown and discovering new ideas in each and every project.
My dream is to keep telling those stories, and hopefully share some life lessons along the way with my audience. Whether that's showing an interesting world, sparking a new idea, or sharing an emotion. This is how I try to approach every project I work on. If you have discovered something meaningful in my work, or even just found a smile somewhere along the way, I consider it a job well done.
Looking ahead, I'm excited about the future. I plan to venture into new territories of film and tell more stories that explore the human condition. I am thrilled to start shooting my first feature film this summer and begin embracing new challenges as I enter uncharted territory.
It's always a mystery seeing where The Projecter12 will go next, but I'm confident it will be a new adventure every time.
